Connection (not Consumption) this Black Friday

I just can’t take it anymore.

COVID times have been many things:

heartbreaking,

lonely,

earthshaking,

frustrating.

But for me one of the heaviest feelings of the pandemic has been emptiness. Things just feel hollow.

I know I’m not alone in this. My day job as a Clinical Social Worker has reinforced this understanding that everyone has had increased isolation, confusion, and questioning about the big things; the existential things. The what-the-hell-is-the-point-of-anything things.

There’s certainly nothing wrong with pondering the big things and it’s quite healthy…in moderation. But millions of people stuck in their homes to ponder the purpose of life for months and months on end while living in fear of a deadly virus? It’s really no wonder the world is experiencing an intense mental health crisis now. The conditions we have been living in would unhinge anyone, and they have.

This season, what we all are experiencing is catalyzing lots of change:

personal,

professional,

familial,

ethical,

moral,

spiritual.

All of us are faced with the constant appraisal of choices, whether we realize it or not. Constantly weighing the pros and cons of every decision is bound to eventually create fatigue. This decision fatigue can then result in ambivalence and when we reach the point of not being able to care anymore we usually just do what we always have done in whatever circumstance we are experiencing.

I know I don’t have to tell you that if we have been feeling like we don’t know what the point of anything is anymore, doing the same things we always have done aren’t going to make us feel any better.

Enter: connection - and creativity too!

Shaking things up with some different experiences can always create some space or inspiration to change things for the better.

Imagine you have this entire day off the day after Thanksgiving and you fill it with

  • making some art (you don’t even have to be an artist!),

  • connecting with yourself and your inner wisdom,

  • and connecting with others who, just like you, are seeking something a little less hollow these days.

SoulCollage® is an excellent method for cultivating connection with the parts of ourselves and the rest of the world. Using simple images from magazines (or whatever else you have available), some cardstock, glue, and scissors, you can collage your way to feeling more whole, connected, and inspired.

Many of my workshop participants share how profoundly they were moved by the experience of SoulCollage®, how something rather simple can go deep and feel so meaningful. Joining in community with others to create and bear witness makes us feel in our hearts that we are not alone, that we are a part of this magical existence with one another.

If there is any part of you that is whispering (or shouting) that you are interested, I would love for you to join me virtually on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 12:30-3:00 pm EDT to explore, experience, grow, connect and create. Click here for more info!

As a holiday gift I am giving away SoulCollage® Material Packets to the first 5 people that sign up for this workshop. This means you won’t even have to gather supplies, you can just login and show up on the day! Make sure to sign up by Saturday, November 13th to allow for current shipping times.

I can’t wait to Connect & Create with you soon 💜
